University of Alabama

The University of Alabama Online was designed for the working adult and is structured to make earning a degree more attainable. Our goal is student success, and with that comes flexibility. UA Online does not require students to take a certain number of classes per semester. We encourage our students to take two or three courses per term; however, we understand if you can only complete one at a time! Our academic advisors always try to gauge what you’ve got going on so we can build a schedule that works best for you. The University of Alabama Online follows the same academic calendar as our main campus in Tuscaloosa, AL. That said, we traditionally offer 16-week courses in the Spring and Fall. Our Summer terms are slightly shorter, usually 4-8 weeks. Here is the link to our Academic Calendar to see important UA dates. Most coursework is pre-recorded lectures, online videos, and reading materials. You would not be required to log on at a particular time every day to “participate” in the course. You can work at your own pace as long as you meet the deadlines outlined in your syllabus for each class! Proctored exams are the only things you may have to schedule ahead of time with your place of employment. Some professors require proctored exams for their courses, while others do not. There are several options for proctoring, so I’m sure we would be able to figure out what works best for your schedule.

Tuition

At UA Online, everyone pays the same rates.  We don't have out-of-state tuition.  The 2023 - 2024 tuition rates for our degree programs are listed on our website and billed per credit hour. Most courses are 3 credit hours, and all UA Online students qualify for the distance tuition rate, regardless of residency. There is no out-of-state tuition at UA Online. Please visit the Student Account Services website for billing and payment methods. Visit the Student Account Services – College Fee Rates page for more information on fees.
