New Orleans Firefighters Sue City Over Directive Requiring Out-Of-Class Duties

NEW ORLEANS — A feud between the City of New Orleans and its firefighters has moved to civil court.

The New Orleans Firefighters Association has filed a petition for an injunction against the city, the New Orleans Fire Department and Fire Superintendent Roman Nelson. At the center of the dispute is a department directive requiring firefighters to take on higher-level duties without guaranteeing they will receive extra pay.
