CHARLOTTE, NC — CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A legal battle between a CMPD employee and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fraternal Order of Police has officially come to an end, with North Carolina’s Court of Appeals ultimately siding with Char-Meck FOP.
Sandra Vastola, who serves as Director of Public Affairs for CMPD, filed a lawsuit back in 2024, accusing Char-Meck FOP Lodge #9 and its president, Daniel Redford, of defamation.
Court documents show she alleged the group made false and damaging statements about her following the tragic Shannon Park shooting that killed four law enforcement officers.
