Winston-Salem City Leaders Vote To Reduce Firefighter Sick, Vacation Leave

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem City Council approved a motion on Monday to reduce sick and vacation leave for members of the city’s fire department despite months of pushback. 

According to city documents, firefighters currently “earn sick and vacation leave at a rate of 24 hours per day while all other full-time employees earn sick and vacation leave at a rate of eight hours per day.”
