FORT WAYNE, IN — Last Wednesday, leaders from Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters Local 124 held a press conference calling for Chief Lahey to resign, saying “leadership failures” have led to firetrucks being taken out of service, causing delayed response times.
IAFF Local 124 President Jeremy Bush also said the department is grappling with what he calls unsafe staffing numbers and unfilled positions. Chief Lahey responded and said he has no intention of stepping down, and the public has never been in danger.
