CAPE CIRARDEAU, MO — International Association of Fire Fighters Local No. 1084 has filed a lawsuit against the City of Cape Girardeau, alleging municipal officials have not negotiated in good faith over a new contract.
The suit contends negotiations involving city manager Ken Haskin and human resources director Gina Snyder have failed to result in a contract to replace the agreement that expired in late 2021. The suit says the City unilaterally and unlawfully changed wages, benefits and disciplinary processes and asks the court to reverse those changes and compel City officials to “bargain in good faith”.
The suit comes less than a week before the Tuesday, April 7, election in which the City’s mayoral position is at stake.
