Fairfield Police Officers, Sergeants To See Pay Increase

Fairfield police officers and sergeants are getting a bump in pay.

Both the council and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 166 approved a new, three-year contract, retroactive to April 1. The old contract expired March 31.

The new agreement includes the city’s 57 patrol officers and sergeants but excludes the chief and three majors. The agreement followed a fact-finder recommendation increasing the pay scales for both the officers and sergeants.

“The new pay scale notably reduces the number of years required for FOP patrol officers to reach their top pay step from 20 years to 10 years,’’ said Laurie Murphy, assistant city manager.
