Omaha Police Union Optimistic New Efforts Can Close Officer Shortage

Omaha, NE. — Monday, Omaha Police swore in nearly a dozen new officers. The new additions help the department as it continues to tackle an officer shortage.

“2019 was the last time we were fully staffed at 906 officers,” said Omaha Police Officers Association President Patrick Dempsey. “Since then we have seen a slow decline but now we have kind of hit rock bottom as far as being 115 officers down.”
